      Cozzoli Machine Operator

Use troubleshooting skills, analytical capabilities, and technical expertise to ensure smooth operation of the machine by determining the causes of defective units and developing solutions to issues encountered.Refine understanding of inner mechanical components, operational details, and outputs of the machine, which produces tens of thousands of biological indicators per day.

    • Montana State University-Bozeman

      Jan 2019 - Jul 2020
Research Engineer, Space Science and Engineering Laboratory

Designed structural components such as walls and bulkheads in SOLIDWORKS for a CubeSat being developed by the Space Science and Engineering Laboratory at Montana State in conjunction with Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and Dartmouth College.Corresponded with Johns Hopkins scientists to determine mechanical interface between payload and spacecraft structure while maintaining vividly detailed documents describing updates on the device interface.Designed and 3D printed test fixtures for several brands of tactile switches for potential use on the satellite.Collaborated with machinist to manufacture prototype and improve design for machining.Machined engineering models of satellite components for vibration testing of spacecraft structure. Analyzed potential flight paths and behaviors with Systems Tool Kit (STK) to maximize power input and useful science data gathered by the satellite’s payload. Performed analysis on STK data to determine best locations on the vehicle for GPS antennas, radio antennas, and the star tracker by writing Python code. Worked with members of NASA and Nanoracks to complete orbital debris assessment of the IT-SPINS nanosatellite, launched in February 2021. Show less

    • North Carolina State University

      Aug 2021 - May 2022
      Composite Structures Researcher

Researched usage of piezoelectric elements to control in-space deployment of thin-shelled composite booms. Analytically determined behavior of deployable booms. Derived equations of motion using engineering first-principles and developed MatLab program to calculate fold locations and visualize boom behavior. Piezoelectric control elements could then be placed at fold locations to eliminate unwanted vibration, preventing damage to spacecraft. Conducted detailed FEA analysis by simulating tape spring in ABAQUS. Derived equations of motion by extracting location data and compared analytical and numerical simulations to determine fidelity of the analytical solution. Show less
