I worked my way up the ladder to put myself in a position of responsibility. Water Treatment Plant Operator in Training at Duteau Creek Water Treatment Plant. This was a newly commissioned plant that used Dissolved Air Filtration as their primary treatment. There were a lot of bugs to work out in the system due to its recent upstart. I had the opportunity to headman a pilot plant for the second phase of the process where a dual media filtration beds were to be installed in the near future, The DAF plant skimmed off sludge from the top of the beds which where settled and centerfuged. Water Treatment Operator

Water Treatment Operator at 2 water treatment plant with the City of Calgary. Both plants used Actiflow pretreatment process followed by dual media filtration and sodium hydroxide generation for disinfection with maximum flows of around 600 ML/day at each plant. These plants had very little water waste, over 99% of the water from the surface sources were eventually treated because the backwash waste water was settled out and the supernatent was processed again through the plant. The settled sludge was centerfuged and recycled in farmers fields. Show less
