I studied how to manage human interactions with the natural world in parks and protected areas, natural resource organizations, and agriculture systems.I also studied abroad in Ecuador and South Africa. In Ecuador, I learned about sustainable agriculture, food production, and the cloud rainforest ecosystem. In South Africa, I studied wild animal behavior and welfare by observing animals in their native habitat. We collected data from the field to perform a fecal egg experiment in order to determine if the wildlife were healthy. For my senior capstone, I worked on developing a management plan in collaboration with the Buckeye Lake Historical Society. The intended outcomes for the management plan for Cranberry Island were to preserve the natural bog environment and to scale up restoration efforts after water levels were restored and the bog re-established itself.
