      Professor of Surgical Oncology

I left MD Anderson after 10 years and nearly 150 publications to join the LAU as indicated above. I maintain the Adjunct Professor title and remain in contact with colleagues in Houston in order to facilitate educational and professional exchange and create opportunity to enhance training in HPB surgery at the Cancer Center providing a broad experience in complex benign surgery in concert with the oncologic surgical experience in Beirut.

      Feb 2011 - Jan 2017
Professor and Founding Chairman of Surgery

When the American University (Lebanese American University) started a new school of medicine in Lebanon, they purchased a private hospital to be converted to a University Hospital. I joined this effort to establish a modern, comprehensive Department of Surgery, to establish Surgical Oncology, and to develop Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary surgery within the new institution. In parallel, we have completed a modern, up-to-date surgical training program, with residencies in General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Urologic Surgery and Neurosurgery. Show less
