  I worked as a dock hand at this recreational fishing lodge. This position involved a lot of customer service skills as I had to deal directly with the lodges customers and a lot of physically demanding labor. This job was seasonal for the months of May through September. Although I enjoyed the work I found the 17 hour work days and no days off during the season draining and wanted something closer to home.

  My mother manages a non-for-profit gymnastics association in Campbell River. She asked me to help coach birthday parties due to my reliability (she was having problems with coach availability at the time) and my patience with small children. After a time I also began filling in for coaches when needed however due to having no gymnastics experience myself I was limited to helping with beginners classes.When I moved to Nanaimo to begin my university carrier I stopped being able to help out at the gym. I eventually left this position when I was offered a position at Best Buy Canada and my attempts to get moved to a day shift had failed.

  I was employed as a Senior appliance adviser at Best Buy Canada. I was initially hired for work in the computers department but was moved to appliances because of my attention to detail and strong communication skills.I was in charge of role play training with associates and assisting in customer service solutions. I also acted as a brand representative for the brands; Samsung (major appliances), Breville and Nespresso in which I was charged with training the staff in their products and improving sales numbers for them.While I worked in the computers department I;I've also helped train new sales associates I was Laser lining captain (a position that involves directing the clean up of the store during closing hours) on many occasion because of my attention to detail.I took initiative by working with the product process team to ensure that products were downstocked on the floor to increase the stores inventory turnover rate and make sure the store had it's whole inventory avaliable for purchasing. I eventually left this position when I was offered full time hours at Best Buy Canada, having found that I favor the retail industry over the food industry.
