    • Oceanus

      Nov 2000 - Dec 2004
      Marketing Director

Building the brand and products of a near start-up organisation. Oceanus customers include Barclays Bank, Mellon Bank, Standard Bank, Alliance & Leicester, Zurich International, Cumberland building society, O2 & Vodafone.Re-positioning of the company’s main product CMS (Correspondence Management System). This involved a complete rebranding exercise, the redevelopment of all sales and marketing materials and the driving of a number of technical developments all of which gave the product market advantages and made the process of sales and implementation significantly more attractive and efficient. During this time I stayed very close to the developments in the market especially to FileNet (A multi-national software company) whose software forms the major component of the CMS solution and I sat on the FileNet special interest group for Process Management. During 04 I worked very closely with the product development teams to establish the feasibility and specification of a new web based product designed to reduce the amount of effort required to manage large FileNet installations. I developed all the relevant materials around this product and managed its launch. Oceanus customers include Barclays Bank, Mellon Bank, Standard Bank, Alliance & Leicester, Zurich International, Cumberland building society, O2 & Vodafone. Show less

This company allowed me to explore a number of areas after leaving the IT industry. Through it which I did the following:2008-2009 Environmental Consultant - Started working with Grace Stead and Andrew Bennett on Social project with Schools around environmental awareness and understanding. This project twinned schools from different backgrounds and helped them to understand and feel the reasons for sustainability. The effect of this project was many fold on the kids and adults not just environmental.2007-2008 Raising awareness - I wanted to share a lot of what I had found. Consequently I started the "Awareness films and Talks" group in Cape Town showing 2 films a week on with discussion and food. This was as great opportunity to share and learn more. The films were about Social, Environmental and animal issues.2006-2007 Business Consultant - worked with a variety of organisations promoting positive social change Reciporcity, Coach matching, etc Helping with Business plans and marketing strategies. Also took a bit of a break to think. :-)2005-2006 Filmmaker - Put together a set of 4 DVD's to promote the work of i-to-i as I loved the effect it had on the people who were involved both locally and internationally. I went around the world filming volunteers, project staff, university staff and businesses to get the real feel and benefit of volunteering in peoples own words and then edited and produced the DVD set. Encourage, Prepare, In-country and Back home.2004-2005 In-country coordinator for the i-to-i volunteer organisation. I set up, ran and supported environmental, social and tsunami projects in Sri Lanka. • Icologie

      Dec 2009 - Dec 2012
      Founder

icologie inspires, motivates and educates around sustainability. We are working with individuals and organisations to engage those around us in what sustainability means, why it is important and what we can do. We focus on fun, empowering and interactive engagements through talks, courses and projects. We make sustainability an empowering and fun journey because many organisations make the mistake of focusing and dictating on what their people MUST do without connecting them to what it means to their lives first, so it feels to them like just like more work and admin and naturally they push back. Whereas, when they understand the positive benefits for them, their families and the business an extraordinary energy is unleashed that naturally drives positive change in all areas.Andy is also bringing clean, green, economic electric mobility to Africa.
