      Work Experience

Telesales, filing, organising. Also involved travel to pharmacies across the country, learning about various GSK products and marketing them to pharmacists.

    • ESB

      May 2017 - Sept 2017
      Corporate Centre Assistant

Shadowed senior professionals spearheading Ireland's transition from fossil fuels to green energy. Also worked on computing case management systems for industrial relations.

    • University College Dublin

      Jun 2018 - Sept 2019

Worked under Gary Dunne, the Science Recruitment and Marketing Officer, to help encourage secondary school students to consider studying science at UCD, bringing them on tours of the O'Brien Centre for Science, answering any queries regarding life as a science student, as well as updating the UCD Science website. Worked in Dr Tony Keene's lab, carrying out research on adsorbent materials that could potentially act as carbon capture substrates. Work involved synthesising poly-pyridyl ligands and Schiff bases. Carried out an internship in Professor Andrew Phillips' lab working on the use of ruthenium based catalysts in the polymerisation of lactide, a green alternative to traditional plastics. Synthesised several chloro-cyclopentadienyl-triphenylphosphine ligands for a ruthenium catalyst and monitored their polymerisation efficiency.

      Nov 2019 - Sept 2020
      Student Researcher

Working under the supervision of Dr Rob Davies and Prof Paul Lickiss developing silicon-based linkers for metal-organic frameworks. Also worked on Zeo++ software computationally investigating the geometrical parameters of novel MOFs.

    • Green Schools Project

      Sept 2021 - Jul 2022
      Volunteer

Volunteering on a weekly basis at a primary school. Each week different environmental issues are discussed and projects are divided to help promote sustainability in the school.

    • UCL

      Sept 2021 - now

PhD student in Prof Martijn Zwijnenberg's group. Using density functional theory (DFT), time-dependent DFT, the GW approximation and the Bethe-Salpeter equation to generate data on semiconducting nanoparticles, including silicon, cadmium sulfide/selenide and perovskite quantum dots. Using Python packages including Numpy and Scipy to carry out analysis on resulting data. Also spend time developing in-house software to enhance analysis, e.g. Fourier transforms of molecular orbital data to gain insights of electronic structure via momentum space. Show less
