      Briggs Environmental Services, a subsidiary of Briggs Group, specializes in the provision of marine and coastal environment services predominantly to the oil and gas, cable laying and offshore renewable sectors.My work with Briggs Environmental Services included authoring benthic and intertidal chapters for two submarine cable environmental impact assessments, the project management of intertidal surveys at four potential cable landing sites, oil spill contingency planning for offshore oil and gas operators in the North and Irish Seas, and two shoreline protection strategy plans. Skills I have developed in particular during my work include GIS mapping, marine environmental sensitivity assessments, oil spill modelling, tender and proposal formulation, client communications, and project finance and time management.       During my time with Stantec I worked as a member of the Marine Team, as a Biologist, Operational Team Lead for a team of aquatic scientists, Project Lead and Crew Lead. I crew-led and participated in intertidal ecological surveys, authoring and coauthoring marine technical data reports, and preparing self-assessments and requests for review under the Fisheries Act. My emergency response preparedness and planning experience at Stantec included coordinating and providing technical services in the development of pipeline and marine preparedness programs, preliminary tactical watercourse plans, responding to information requests concerning terrestrial and marine emergency response, and the provision of on-site backrow and offsite witness hearing support during an inter-provincial pipeline project’s regulatory review process. My experience includes oil spill model interpretation and authoring assessments of malfunctions and accidents.Skills I developed though my work with Stantec include technical writing, project management, and proposal writing, Indigenous engagement and joint field work, field survey crew leadership, intertidal ecological assessment, marine health, safety and environment awareness and leadership, and pipeline- and vessel-related emergency preparedness and response planning.
