    • Hong Kong Buffet

      Feb 2011 - Sept 2011
      Server

Welcomed and seated customers - Took meal and drink orders and wrote bills - Removed finished plates from tables and offered refills - Cleaned the tables after the customers left - Kept up with all of these other tasks in the midst of a meal-time rush, especially on special occasion days - Swept floors and washed tables twice daily, and the chairs and bathrooms at the end of each day and when necessary. Not a glorious job, but it was my job, so I tried to do the best I could each day. Through it I became more skilled at doing math without a calculator, opening up socially with and getting on good terms with strangers and regular customers, and balancing innumerous plates while holding up to about ten large cups, often still filled with liquid and/or cutlery.
