  Water / Wastewater Project Manager

  Mac McDonnell is a project manager and licensed operator with experience in the water and wastewater. Mac has been a contract consultant manager for Michigan wastewater plants in Hastings, Charlevoix and Coldwater. He was the Port Austin Michigan Sewer and Water Authority Superintendent, overseeing the surface water drinking plant, wastewater plant, and collection and distribution systems.In the industrial field, Mac was the Manager of Global Environmental Engineering for Eagle Ottawa Leather Company overseeing environmental operations at eleven processing facilities worldwide. This included the start-up and operation of a 1.2 million gallons per day (MGD) industrial water/wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). Mac also directed the successful implementation and certification of a global ISO 14001 program and developed an Internal Audit System to find gaps and promote improvement. One of Mac’s current projects includes management of municipal water and wastewater treatment systems for the city of Hastings. This includes managing the operations of both water and wastewater treatment system processes, detecting the need for and performing preventive and corrective maintenance and operational changes. He oversees all National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and water quality permits. Mac experience providing associated process chemistry, laboratory QC programs, plant start-ups, operator training, consulting and engineering in the water and wastewater for both municipal and industrial clients. He has worked as a plant operator and superintendent giving him a unique background on the day-to-day operations of a water and wastewater treatment facility. Mac is experienced in safety, maintenance and capital project management. He understands the importance of environmental operations of treatment plants and is experienced in troubleshooting, system design, treatment optimization and working with regulatory agencies.
