      Back in 2002, I volunteered on a domestic violence hotline with the Community Resource Center in Encinitas, California. I had to go through six months of training to answer calls pertaining to serious issues about domestic violence. The service screened women and their children for community services like shelter, food, and support. I volunteered in this organization for about a year.

      My experience at North County Home Loans dealt primarily with the Hispanic population in regards to developing affordable housing solutions and financial mortgage planning. Being resourceful and taking initiative allowed me to meet deadlines and timeframes to complete files successfully. As a loan processor and notary public, I met with clients on a daily basis to ensure understanding and be able to assist with document prep, retrieval, and review. My thorough problem solving abilities enabled me to work under the stress of funding mortgage loans in a thirty day time period. In this position, confidentiality was crucial because I had to work with a lot of financial, sensitive information on a daily basis.       I was a part of the CERT program with Cobb County that assists police and fire personnel in a major emergency situation. We have been trained to practice triage, bandaging, and basic medical advice when members of public safety are overwhelmed in a particular event. We were also called in to help with search and rescue efforts, as well as other volunteer opportunities within Cobb County.

      I have completed the Citizen's Police Academy with Cobb County and helped start up an alumni group for people who have participated in the program.       Emergency Communications Officer

      As an Emergency Communications Officer, I answered emergency and non emergency calls from the public and other law enforcement agencies while using state of the art radio and communication systems. After determing the nature of the call, I had to simultaneosuly assign a priority to the call and enter detailed information into the CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) system.The memorization of over 120 different signals, codes, and ten codes were also a crucial part of my day to day tasks. In this position, I also had to dispatch police, fire or medical to the scene and maintain constant contact with callers and emergency units to ensure the necessary response. An an Emergency Communications Officer, I had to coordinate with special units such as K9, Bomb Squad, SWAT, DFACS, and Animal Control etc. to dispatch response to special emergency situations. Through the EMD system and training, I gave life saving and pre-arrival instructions to callers in an emergency setting. In this position, I received my EMD certificate, TTY/TTD (telecommunication devices for the deaf) certificate, GCIC operator level certification and became CPR certified. Relaying information regarding wanted subjects and retrieving data from police reports were also a crucial part to this position. Working with GCIC and NCIC in regards to obtaining information on driver's licenses, weapon registration, tag and article ID numbers, stolen vehicles, etc. were also important parts to this operation. It was also critical to have knowledge of map reading, federal and state standards, laws, ordinances and the ability to stay calm and focused in a face paced environment. Show less

      For the Sandy Springs Police Department, I was responsible for providing extensive data entry, clerical and records maintenance support for the police department. In compliance with GCIC and NCIC rules and regulations, I was responsible for entry of data regarding stolen property, stolen vehicles, missing persons, stolen guns, and stolen license plates for the City of Sandy Springs and the City of Johns Creek Police. I researched and provided full criminal histories and performed research on warrants to include probation, failure to appear, and criminal detective warrants into the NCIC database. On a daily basis, I participated in validations of each of these files entered into our system to ensure that our department was fully up to date and compliant with NCIC standards. In this position, I supported detectives and officers from our agency, attorneys, the public and internal employees of public safety agencies around the country. I ensure that all information is treated with sensitivity and with a high attention to detail in every situation while multi-tasking with a high degree of organization. Show less
