  Located in the CSIRO building in Lindfield, New South Wales. FLEDGE Innovations Labs is a medical device start-up company with the interest of creating and introducing new revolutionary medical devices to improve people's health. The University of New South Wales (UNSW) and one of their clubs and societies being the Society of Medical Innovation (SOMI) offered a student learning and development internship program with FLEDGE.Projects:- Vitamon: Vitals monitoring system that collects data from the vitals including heart rate, SPO2 (oxygen levels in blood stream), blood pressure and position of the monitoring device (accelerometer). The size of the device is 50mm wide with the thickness of 20mm; a challenge to house Electro Cardiography (ECG) electronics inside. Contains a trap for the arms. - FreshTracks: A cycling machine with a screen mounted displaying a game using virtual reality of a person riding on a bicycle around the streets.Tasks:- Designing electronic device enclosures for Vitamon using Fusion 360.- Designing a mounting mechanism for the screen for FreshTracks.- Presentation on the working progress for Vitamon.- Progress and design reports for Vitamon.   After attaining a diverse knowledge of as many products and brands as possible, I was given the opportunity to run a pop-up store in Castle Hill from October 2019 to February 2020 just 3-months later from starting out in the business. I was taught how to be independent as the store mainly had one person running the store for the day.This created a foundation for my improved leadership and independence on how to handle pressure and difficult customers. A new store opened in Chatswood in August 2020 where I was offered to be the first store manager which pushed me to further levels of responsibility. New staff were hired and I was training them on how to engage customers and maintain the store. Christmas season 2020 became the busiest time when a mini pop-up booth opened in the same mall which means I had to manage two locations at the same time with more staff. The results for December 2020 went very well for the new Chatswood store that the sales expectations went passed the targets by about double.Responsibilities for this role includes:- Opening and closing of the store- Store management (setting up new promotions, cleaning, visual merchandising and shelf replenishing)- Training of new staff on customer service and POS system- Customer service Show less Hobbyco is a business that focuses on selling hobby items such as toys, games, model kits, modelling tools and paints, model trains, R/C cars, diecast vehicles, STEM kits and more.I was given the opportunity to work in a retail environment where I would experience merchandising, stock checks and customer service. The duties for this role are:- Stock pricing and count- Utilising POS system for salesI was originally focused on the model kits section of the store but I personally did not enjoy "zoning" and stocking to my sector. So I decided to push myself to learn a little bit of every other sector and how they are managed. Eventually I have gained knowledge on the hobbies of R/C vehicles, board games and model trains. I even pushed myself to study the brands/manufacturers of the products, what types of products are to be released for customers and how to approach customers. Show less

  Graduate engineering role for Allied Pinnacle in Taren Point, New South Wales. Started the first 3-months as an intern. The site produces muffins for retailers such as Coles, Aldi, Woolworths, 7-Eleven and more. The site operates 24-hours. I had the opportunity to experience the odd-hour working lifestyle by attending Day, Afternoon and Night shift. Started off as an intern for three months until being employed.Duties:- Planning and installations of Electronic Data Collection (Operational Feedback System) equipment to gather statistical data on production flow and downtime.- Participating in Factory and Site Assessment Tests for Automatic Labelling, Palletising and Case Packing equipment.- Training production operators on Automated Robotic Palletising and Wrapping Systems, Automated Case Packing Systems, Label Printing for carton and pallet identification, Automatic Labelling Equipment, and Vision Inspection Unit.- Worked with Quality Assurance and Regulatory departments in designing and developing labels to meet customer and regulatory authority requirements.- Performing QA and WHS Pre-Installation and Operational Risk Assessments for Automated Packing Equipment.- Using AutoCAD to design new production layouts for new production equipment.- Development of Maintenance Procedures using Computerised Maintenance Management System (MEX) for existing and new equipment on site.- Assisting with Quality Assurance on Bucket Walk List and Production Staff Training Induction by creating a MS Excel spreadsheet to display site locations for bucket walks for each production shift and graphing foreign objects found by production staff and using the latter software to monitor when specific training for certain production staff (product weight checks, hourly metal detector test, etc.) are due using conditional formatting.- Ensuring that contractors coming on site have been inducted before commencing work (Hot Works Permit, Working at Heights, etc.).
