    • The Insolvency Service

      Jun 2014 - Jul 2016
Solutions Architect, Scrum Master and Team Coach

Under the Governments Digital by Default strategy and adopting GDS (Government Digital Services) guidelines, as Scrum Master, I was tasked to mentor, motivate, liaise with key stakeholders, backlog refinement, remove impediments and support the delivery of a high profile web based digital portal to initially meet a legislative deadline and then improve the service to meet core business needs* Guided, advised and coached an inexperienced business team in terms of Scrum / Agile, digital, SDLC, XP and UAT. Initially this took the form of simplifying and training the Team on the software development life cycle, differences / pro's / con's between Waterfall and Agile methodologies, discussing Agile at a deeper level (Scrum, Kanban and also XP), the roles and responsibly of team members, the interactions between team members, continuous integration, continuous delivery, product backlog, story points, sprints and the meetings / processes / tools within a sprint all with a focus on the core principles of Scrum allowing for pragmatic frequent quality delivery of features.* Stakeholder management; frequent participation at project board and frequent discussions with the senior responsible officers / programme directors.* Liaised with the business and PO to instil an understanding of the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) which was required to meet legislative requirements.* Worked closely with the Product Owner in backlog refinement and prioritisation to ensure continuous delivery of critical business features.* Facilitated business discussions around functionality to ensure the overall solution did not suffer from unnecessary scope creep, added to the user experience, ensured that the requirements were technically feasible and updated stories / acceptance criteria to Jira / Confluence.* Forecasting of future resource needs and ROI calculations...... request CV for additional details Show less

    • HomeServe

      Jul 2016 - Nov 2016
      Scrum Master and Team Coach

HomeServe created new a Digital Hub with a programme of work operating under the Scrum methodology to expand into new international markets and to improve services across the UK, I was one of the two leading Scrum Master and Coach for two teams; comprising of Product Owners, Business Analysts, Solutions Architects, UX/UI, a couple of third party development teams and an off-shore test team with an onsite lead tester.* For the larger team, initially only 30% of the teams were co-located but my coaching and efforts lead to having 80% of the team being co-located resulting in tangible improvements in a higher level of productivity and quality of product.* Facilitated discussions on penetration testing, source control and other technical meetings to ensure that unnecessary work was not an outcome and that any new requirements were brought to the attention of the Product Owners before being added to the backlog as either tasks or technical spikes.* Protected the development teams from outside distractions, impediments or team conflicts and maintained focus on Product and Sprint Backlog.* Coaching of Team members who were not familiar with Agile / Scrum either as a team or one-to-one.* Facilitation and prioritisation of the production issues with the Business, Development Team and Product Owners.* Maintained rigour around planning sessions between the Product Owner, BA and UX/UI developers to ensure that the UX/UI was at least 3 days ahead of the rest of the Development Team (as the UI design, in conjunction with the story / Acceptance Criteria were required for a full understanding of the requirement).* Facilitated the discussions to define the Definition of Ready, Definition of Done and Team working agreements.* Jira, Windows, RESTful API’s, Angular, SQL Server, IIS, GitHub Show less

Additionally, ensuring that logistics, technology resources and facilities were available for the co-located UK Teams and audio / visual communications were operating for off site Teams.* Via regular Team confidence votes at the Scum of Scrums and the final ART Confidence vote, ensured that every member of the ART left the PI Event with an aligned and sequenced plan, with known dependencies visually mapped for PI Execution (four Sprints, each of three weeks). As the Large Solution comprised of five ART's, I also collaborated with other RTE's to establish cross ART dependencies / sequencing which were discussed at the Leadership Sync's ...... STE (Solution Train Engineer) and RTE (Release Train Engineer)

STE (Solution Train Engineer) & RTE (Release Train Engineer): Three. December 2018 - July 2020A signification number of programmes within Three are undergoing transformation from traditional Waterfall to Scaled Agile; I am a Release Train Engineer and Solution Train Engineer for two ARTs working to create predictable, valuable incremental delivery between a massive third-party technical capability and the Business Readiness Programme which are spread across 3 UK locations and India. Business Readiness is not a traditional software programme, but rather it is required to get the business ready for technical delivery which involves; ordering SIM's, training of store staff, training call centre staff, marketing, legal compliance etc.* Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, after three face-to-face PI Planning events, Three moved to remote working so all the other PI Execution and PI Planning ceremonies were done remotely via MS Teams. * Initially, the Business Readiness Programme was a single ART of function teams but over my first six-month period, I have guided it to two ART's, made up of cross functional teams, all under a single Solution.* Due to its lack of agile and SAFe maturity, a large amount of time was spent working with the team of agile coaches to improve the ARTs agile skills and also moving the ART's closer to SAFe in order to drive better predictability, improved feedback loops and increase flow.* I have led all the phases of the Solution and ART PI events including Inspect & Adapt, organisation, facilitation, managing successful outcomes of five PI events, removing blockers / impediments at Program and Solution level to help achieve successful PI execution, briefing for future PI events, planning for future PI events and communications cross ART and Large Solution Level to ensure all stakeholders are engaged and informed.... There are 4 Agile Release Trains within Cyber Security where I was a Release Train Engineer for one ART but also the Solution Train Engineer (Chief RTE) across the ART’s.
