  The Student Ambassador Scheme is an opportunity that University of Greenwich provides its students for them to gain experience in wide areas of careers and employment. Students get to help out while comfortably studying at their own pace and are paid for it. Moreover, the students who are privileged to be selected for this scheme are ensured to be well trained through a series of courses and are even presented with qualification certificates during the recruitment processes. Some of the qualities requires of an ambassador are: professionalism, approach-ability, awareness, discipline & respect, confidence and pro-activity,empathy etc.A few tasks that Student Ambassadors are presented with include:Giving tours to aspiring students of the University of GreenwichRepresenting the university in college and higher education fairs Show less During my final year of studying BSc Mathematics at the University of Greenwich, I had the choice of working at any firm or company of my choice for 15 days to experience the feel of a professional work environment in my field of study. This module allowed students to gain valuable experience on their CVs and drew students a step closer to achieving their career jobs. It also involved interacting with real life problems in a typical work environment which would in turn equip students with more confidence in their technical abilities such as problem-solving and critical thinking. This internship placement built my social skills as much as it built my technical skills. I was required to complete a special mathematical project of my choice within my placement time. This project could not be too long or too short as it should be completed within 10 – 12 days and it had to show my problem-solving skills as well as my understanding on topics and growth as a mathematics student. The aim was to improve in my capabilities as a graduate and be of use to the environment I had been assigned to. My role in the office was closer to a data analyst and at the end of my placement, I went on to give a presentation on my research findings and an account on how I had developed as an employee. The Employability & Career Service (ECS) department of University of Greenwich is where I had my Mathematics Work Placement (MWP). ECS helps students with tailored advice and support towards their ongoing education and future career path. They help students build their CV’s, find placements, internships, apprenticeships, graduate jobs and many more. Students also become more proactive on campus through the student ambassador scheme which is also organised by ECS. Show less
