  At Smallhythe Place, my role was to care for the house and collection and to open the house to visitors every morning. I also carried out conservation projects and helped to manage volunteers. In this role I welcomed visitors to Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens and provided information about the property and local area. I introduced paying visitors to National Trust membership and helped them to make their visits more economical.

  In my role as Conservation and Engagement Assistant at Bateman's, I care for the house and it's collection, look after the 180+ volunteers and welcome visitors into the house. I also enjoy researching Rudyard Kipling (author of Kim and The Jungle Book, who lived here) and local history, and doing Conservation in Action with the visitors. Another big part of my role is managing a lot of the fundraising that takes place at Bateman's, as well as planning events, and supporting all other teams around the property and wider portfolio. I am currently involved with several fundraising projects, including one for Park Mill on the estate at Bateman's, which needs vital restoration work to get it working again, and reinterpretation. We are hoping to raise £150,000 for this work to be completed. Show less
