      Summer Intern

In the institute, I was doing the project about CRISPR and HACK. Although I just a summer intern student, I still learn lots of things about labs and teamwork. At the end of the project, all of the summer intern students need to do a presentation to others, those are interested in the project.I'm glad to have the chance to encounter such a different experience.

      Research Study Assistant

Jacobs University Bremen, Prof. Hütt, Marc-Thorsten Bremen, GermanyResearch Assistant, Computational Systems Biology Laboratory• Different species are composed of different DNA sequences. Knowing the difference between Homo sapiens, Mus musculus, Drosophila melanogaster, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae DNA sequences by calculating the dinucleotide RA (relative abundance) values. Furthermore, the parameter of calculation of the RA values could change, like the length of the words, sample size, and whether knock out the repetitive DNA or not, etc. My duty is to get the RA value and know whether those parameters will affect the value and how they affect the experiment. • Relevant abilities: C/C++, Excel Weniger anzeigen

      Intern

Intern, Bioinformatics Laboratory• Assist Prof. Jia-Hsin Huang and Prof. Huai-Kuang Tsai to do their collaborative program about Acyrthosiphon Pisum. My duty is to character the TF (transcription factor) binding sites of Acyrthosiphon Pisum.• To complete the duty, lots of bioinformatics tools are needed. Besides, only knowing how to use the tools are far not enough, I need to know how they operate and what’s their background. To find the TF binding sites, it's also essential to understand the feature of its mechanism.• Relevant abilities: Linux, R, C/C++, Python, Excel, PowerPoint, UCSC Genome Browser, RSAT, FIMO, DESeq2, MEME, Tomtom Weniger anzeigen

      • In amphibian's blastula stage, distinct areas like the animal cap, marginal cells, and vegetal cells form with clear boundaries. When we transferred endoderm cells into egg cells, it raised a fundamental question: do these boundaries persist? This study aimed to uncover the question. Through the series of experiments, we found that the exact spatial-dynamic activity is related to the pseudotime trajectory of its sc-RNA-seq data. Knowing the feature helped me to find out that the boundary between an animal cap and marginal cells is vague. This observation demonstrates the implanted endoderm cells may hold the memory genes that could change the fate of differentiation in cell development. Weniger anzeigen

      • At Kerschensteiner Lab, we study how axons degenerate in mouse models of multiple sclerosis. Most of our data comes from intravital 2-photon imaging of the spinal cord. To evaluate axon degeneration stages effectively, we need to label spinal cord axons at various phases. The labeling process, albeit crucial, can be time-consuming and tedious. My role involves crafting an AI-powered image analysis pipeline to automate the staging of axon damage in 2-photon imaging stacks. This innovation aims to streamline and simplify the assessment of axon degeneration, making our research more efficient and insightful. Weniger anzeigen
