      I am responsible for creating and developing an engaging and fun program for young men between the ages of 8 and 17 who are members of the Boy Scouts of America. This involves recruiting and training a ~45 person staff, developing a marketing plan and putting it into action, finding funding for special projects, recruiting troops to attend, among other duties. This particular position is paid during the summer, and volunteer during the rest of the planning year. I am responsible for Assisting the Program Director in running the program at Woodland Trails Boy Scout Reservation in Camden, OH. These responsibilities included customer relations, conducting adult leader meetings, creating daily slideshows, writing a daily newspaper, conducting check-in and check-out, and ensuring all campers were enjoying their stay, in addition to any other various tasks that came up daily.

      Trading Post Manager

      As Trading Post manager, I oversee inventory and sales of BSA advancement and camping supplies to scouts and parents in the Lafayette and West Lafayette area of Indiana. Customer Service and inventory management are key parts of this job. Since taking this position, the trading post has seen an increase in sales of over 75% (between 2016 and 2019). This increase in sales and traffic warranted a move to a larger location adjacent to the previous location in the fall of 2018.

      As a student superviser, I help provide management for a ~100 student staff. This includes task delegation, relations with other departments, training, among other duties. This job also entails cooking and serving quality food, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring exceptional customer service among everyone. This facility had a $1.3 M gross revenue during the 2016-2017 school year, a $500,000 increase from the previous year. In 2017, Pappy's has again increased overall sales by an additional 22%. The addition of meal swipes allowed for this, but required double the staff of previous years. This facility now maintains a 30-40% profit margin, nearly unheard of in the restaurant industry. This is a testament to the hard work of the student employees as well as managers, supervisors, and student supervisors. Show less

      I managed in-camp customer relations at the James C. Justice National Scout Camp. I, and my 7 person commissioner staff, served as a liaison between campers and staff members to ensure everyone was having a positive experience at camp. This was done through adult leader briefings, campsite visits, effective communication, etc. Campers came from all walks of life and all parts of the country and world. They ranged in numbers of 200-3000 at any given time.

This position involved hiring and training ~45 staff, marketing to campers, budgeting, purchasing management, developing and maintaining safety protocols, food service management, meeting national standards, various HR duties, etc. This position was paid during the summer camp season, and volunteer during other times of the year. At 24 years old, I was one of the youngest BSA Camp Directors in the country, and one of very few who have served in all three of the summer camp key 3 positions. During my time as Camp Director, I oversaw a growth of over 10% in camper numbers in one season. Additionally, I oversaw an over 2000% increase in our budget surplus from the previous year, while not compromising on program needs. Show less

This involves scheduled management and tutoring in the PurdueSoil Resource Center, leading discussion sessions, leading field trips, assisting in the improvement of the course,grading, lab setup, etc. Topics covered included, but are not limited to, soil classification, soil genesis and taxonomy,soil fertility, horizon identification, organic matter and soil microbes, soil conservation, pH management, basics of soilchemistry, etc.This position was a quarter-time appointment in Purdue's Department of Agronomy.
