  The Fire Prevention Specialist works to provide the community with a fire safe environment through the use of sound fire protection engineering practices including; hazard identification/mitigation, cost/benefit analysis, alternative methods and materials, and education. This is done through; technical review of engineering and construction documents for code and other regulatory compliance, fire inspections and life safety systems testing for new and existing buildings, fire/arson investigation, assisting the Fire Marshal in development of ordinance and policies, supervising the fire inspectors and inspection programs, coordinating the Juvenile Fire Setters "Fresh Start" program, and conducting fire safety public education programs.
