  Research Staff

  Collaborated closely with research staff to study epidemiologic risk factors and the genetics of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Participated in lab training and received certifications in various areas (Human Subjects Protections, Chemical Laboratory Safety, Bloodborne Pathogen Training, etc.) and learned the basic principles of biomedical research in a laboratory setting. Learned lab techniques in biomedical research, such as flow cytometry and DNA/RNA isolation.

  Directly supervised 15 counselors throughout the summer and helped them develop their skills and supported them through difficult camper situations. Oversaw 50+ campers and helped them through more severe issues at camp, communicated with parents, and created enriching programming for campers.   Worked with PhD candidate Mel Monier on their dissertation: “Trans Masculinity, Pregnancy, and Identity” using qualitative coding, Atlas.ti, and critical media studies research. Designed and completed a personal research project under the supervision of Research Mentor. Presented research project, “Trans Masculine Pregnancy & Identity: Cultivating Compassionate Care for Trans Masculine Communities in Healthcare” at UROP's Research Symposium. Received Blue Ribbon Certificate awarded for outstanding poster and presentation whose visual representation of data was organized and well-designed and who excelled in demonstrating the context of their research and learning about the project.
