  The Mediterranean Marine Life Center, also referred to as the Zante Turtle Rescue & Information Center, is a non-governmental organisation (NGO). The center is located next Gerakas Beach, which is a loggerhead sea turtle nesting beach. Founded in 1991, the mission of the center is to protect the Caretta-Caretta (loggerhead sea turtles) on the island of Zakynthos, and work to develop protection policies of the endangered species in response to the growing tourism and increasing negative impact tourists have on the island.I work alongside the founder of the turtle center in helping run and manage the center in Greece, alongside training volunteers/interns to help run the center with us. As Programme Director I am responsible for recruiting the volunteer and interns that join us during the turtle meeting and hatchling season. This involves interviews, introduction and invitation upon arrival the center, and planning the timetable/schedule for the season (as well as assuring their safety and wellbeing). Show less
