      As an NDT technician, I was responsible for performing Ultrasonic Testing for erosion / corrosion surveys of piping in the Conventional side of the Pickering Nuclear Power Plant. This work was closely supervised by the Senior Technician to ensure that the testing processes were completed in a satisfactory and thorough manner. Exposure to techniques such as radiography (exposure & development), ultrasonic, eddy current, and magnetic particle inspections were all part of the work term at PNGS. Show less

      My first role in Powder Metal Manufacturing was as a Powder Technician. Assessment and analysis of powder blends and development projects were the focus of my Cooperative Education period at ICM. During this time, I developed Work Instructions for a Phosphate Coating production line in order to Standardize the operations and testing procedures to improve Product Quality and Efficiency. An excellent foundation in Powder Metal Manufacturing.

      My first role after graduation from College introduced me to the world of Automotive Component Manufacturing. The Powder Metal Industry is a highly sophisticated and technologically driven arena where attention to detail can mean the difference between a profitable operation and a money losing operation. In my early role at Stackpole I cut my teeth and learned about CNC / Hydraulic and Mechanical Pressing technology, stamping, machining, heat treatment and highly toleranced metal finishing operations.       Transitioning from a Quality & Engineering capacity into Operations Management in 2004 created a Professional challenge in my Career at Stackpole. Responsible for Daily Operations of the Blending, Compacting, Coining and Powder Metal Finishing Operations allowed me to put my Technical and Soft skills to use in driving Continuous Improvement in our Operation. Use of tools such as Setup Time Reduction, Cycle Time Analysis, Constraint Management, Inventory Control, Kanban, Cross Training, Capacity Analiysis, 5S, Standardized Work, Total Productive Maintenance, and other Lean Methodologies was a focus as we strove towards the Ultimate Goal of Self Directed Work teams in our facility. Show less This newly created position allowed myself and two of my colleagues to take full reponsibility for a Product Line at AGD. Utilization of Tools such as Value Stream Mapping allowed us to identify and capitalize on Continuous Improvement opportunities that might otherwise have gone undiscovered. This along with other Tools in our Lean Toolbox allow us to uncover the "Hidden Factory" among our operations. The role also provided full responsibility for the Sales Development, Product Development Engineering, and Quality Assurance for our respective product lines. It was an excellent introduction into the detail oriented arena of Powder Metal Manufacturing and rounded out our Technical experience with the Business, Sales and Customer Service demanded by our Growing organization. Show less In this position I had full responsibilty for the development of the Quality Systems for the Finishing side of our Operation at 2430 Royal Windsor Drive. Form rolling (gear), turning, milling, atmosphere / vacuum carburization, CBN grinding, polishing, honing, deburring, washing, automated assembly / inspection were all employed in this sophisticated and modern Gear Manufacturing operation. Improvement in Profitability and Customer Satisfaction were our primary goals during this exciting period in our Organizational development. This primary product line was growing rapidy and it was imperative that our process capability improve quickly in light of rising sales. Data analysis, root cause determination, problem solving techniques (5-Whys, Kepner Tregoe, Shainin, 6-Sigma) were all practiced as our team diligently worked towards defined goals for Productivity, Quality & Profitability.       Responsible for leading the implementation of an Automotive TS 16949 Quality System at the greenfield plant in Ancaster, Ontario.Reduction in External Customer Concerns & PPM were primary goals as we created and enhanced systems within the facility in order to achieve a sustainable, functional Quality System.Highlights are a completely electronic Quality System including all Shop Floor Documentation and Quality Manuals controlled through EtQ.Quality and Engineering Department employees worked diligently over a two year period to achieve this goal while simultaneously increasing production tenfold and improving Product Quality and Company reputation with our Customer base.
