  Demonstrated continued success as the leader of a year-long project (with $330K in grant funding) involving the improvement of early flood warnings using IoT monitoring and modelling during an overall initiative to advance smart city applications.- Appointed as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Hydroinformatics lab to help Prof Jon Goodall solve the problem of insufficient environment and weather data by installing a network of IoT sensors.- Designed an IoT system which sent the data to the cloud over The Things Network. The results seemed promising and so, we applied for a grant to the Center of Civic Innovation, and they commissioned $330,000 of funds to move further with this project for 1 year. - As the project lead, I accomplished the task of IoTfying 5.6 sq. miles of Charlottesville area by installing LoRa gateways and and deploying 15 essential sensors required by the research team. Along with this, I advised an undergrad capstone project team which used these sensors to develop a user-interface linked to AWS for fluid operation of these LoRa based IoT sensors. Show less Worked as a researcher in the HCI lab to build a Human-Computer Interaction system in the form of an immersive hand-held device which gives the feel of forces and change in forces visualized in the VR handset under the guidance of Prof Seongkook Heo. There are already several methodologies being equipped to serve this purpose like vibrotactile, kinesthetics, drones, and other grounded and ungrounded systems. But we are trying to leverage the propelling force of water and in our knowledge and current prior-art search, this is the first time something like this is being built. The main motive towards trying to test propelling force of water is because it had some clear theoretical and practical advantages like:- Water valves are less bulkier than air valves- Water molecules being heavier than air, would provide generate for reactive force- Reduce the latency by almost 90%- Reduction in the number of rotating parts which can sometimes cause fatalities to the user in cases of dislocation Show less
