  With the assistance and guidance of Dr. Lisa Sanders, this independent investigation will be carried out in the Neurocognition and Perception Laboratory. My main research area will be speech processing, using different data sets to contrast and discover relationships between electroencephalogram (EEG) and speech signaling datasets. Additionally, categorization will be accomplished using artificial intelligence (AI). Our brains are constantly pulling information from our environment to better process our situations. Something so simple as measuring how much information we can understand from various background noises using behavioral, electrophysiological, and neuroimaging techniques can further the understanding of selective attention. We will also look at event-related potentials (ERPs) in the context of language and speech processing, including what speech forms are taken into account when different variables are added. The exploration of general speech processing, amplitudes of speech patterns and EEG data sets will be facilitated by MAT lab and its subunits EEG lab and ERP measurement lab. It will be investigated how language is processed in speech, as well as how acoustical and individual differences in language processing exist among participants. Show less
