  Assigned to several different projects during this time. First project was called Proteus and dealt with creating the Army's Secret fiber network along the east coast and to points in Texas and Arizona. Team visited different installations and coordinated network points with the carriers of that time. Eventually the project became so big that GTE was awarded the follow on contract an the Army established the Defense Information Systems Agency out of the older Defense Communication Agency the the project started under.
