The REACH Network, led by CVD Mali under the leadership of Professor Samba Sow and Minister Muhammad Pate is a collaborative initiative committed to reducing child mortality through biannual azithromycin distribution in high-mortality areas in Africa . Guided by the vision set by the Co-Chairs and reinforced by the Abuja Declaration, the network is built on Africa-led solutions, equity, and data-driven decision-making. The declaration unites governments, researchers, and global health partners around a shared commitment to saving lives, strengthening health systems, and ensuring sustainable antimicrobial resistance (AMR) monitoring. By fostering national ownership and cross-country collaboration, the REACH Network envisions a future where every child has access to life-saving interventions, and where research and policy work hand in hand to drive long-term impact Show less Under the leadership of Professor Samba Sow, CVD Mali is driving the REACH Mali scale-up, expanding mass drug administration (MDA) and strengthening AMR surveillance to reduce child mortality. Despite challenges like drug shipment delays, CVD Mali is ensuring effective rollout through data-driven decision-making and an equity-focused approach, prioritizing the most vulnerable populations. Strategic communications and partnerships are key to success—engaging governments, funders, and health partners to mobilize resources and integrate REACH with national health programs. Through Professor Sow’s leadership, CVD Mali is positioning Mali as a regional leader in child survival and AMR research Show less
