As Tasting Room & Wine Club Manager at Vermont's largest winery, I am responsible for staffing decisions and directly manage 15-25 employees. On The Fly is a grassroots collective of business, finance, and marketing experts helping Vermont hospitality businesses navigate the COVID-19 crisis. We came together (while staying very much apart!) with one question in mind: “How can we help the industry we love?” In the fall of 2020 at the height of the pandemic, we were proud to partner with the Vermont Chamber of Commerce and Vermont Agency of Commerce & Community Development (ACCD). Together, we stewarded 30 businesses through our process by early December 2020. We worked at no cost to the businesses we supported, thanks to a grant from ACCD and the federal Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF).On The Fly works in a streamlined sprint model, so projects typically take just 4-6 weeks from initial intake to project completion and exit survey. Each project is matched with the appropriate expert(s) from our network of over 20 Vermont professionals.By bringing together multiple perspectives, On The Fly creates stronger solutions to the complex challenges this industry faces. Our holistic service provision model focuses on supporting small businesses by offering a soup-to-nuts approach that takes on a critical project for the owner. This approach has a direct impact for hospitality business owners who have an ever-growing list of important tasks they must complete to adapt and succeed. On The Fly has proven our ability to assist small businesses during economic turbulence - specifically through the COVID-19 pandemic - employing a variety of marketing, sales, and financial projects.
