Laurence completed experiential training at this company.Completed the mass estimation of several high-tonnage tenders.Worked hand-in-hand with the workshop manager and the boiler makers to order, sort and aid in the fabrication of structural steel work. Created a computerized manual for tool handling and safety purposes.Designed, implemented and managed a material control procedure for a multi-million Rand bag filter refurbishment project at a South African Coal Power Plant.Other responsibilities included being the chief store man, material controller, lay-down area supervisor and touch-up foreman in charge of several laborers during the five month duration of the refurbishment project.   Laurence designed and manufactured a prototype axial flow pump as part requirement for his degree.Completion of literature reviews, concept selection, product design specification, design and manufacture of an experimental axial flow pump.The design included detailing of the impeller and diffuser blades, supporting structure and the power transmission system.Managed a project plan to ensure the device was completed before the deadline. Liaison with many companies including Zest Electric Motors, Plasma Cut (laser cutting) and SKF Bearings was sustained during the progression of the project.An extensive report covering all aspects of the design and fabrication was completed as part-presentation of the device.
