The Officer Commanding (OC) draws strong parallels to a Chief Operations Officer (COO) and requires the development and implementation of strategic plans to optimise resources, personnel and equipment to support mission objectives. In this role, I am uniquely responsible for the provision of ammunition, catering, warehousing and fuel sustainment support to an operational theatre; such examples include coordinating logistics support for operations in Malaysia, Solomon Islands, PNG, and Vanuatu. In addition, I was also able to mentor as part of the Department of Defence’s Enterprise Mentoring Program. Show less The role of Adjutant was aligned to a Company Secretary, whereby I was directly responsible to the Commanding Officer (CO) – or Chief Executive Officer (CEO) - for the governance requirements of the organisation. As a critical part of the executive team, I was accountable for the human resources and administration of 200+ personnel, and was assigned incident and security manager; which saw the coordination, planning and organisation of resources for the resolution of incidents and the oversight for asset protection. Show less In the role of Petroleum Inspector, I was the technical authority for Aviation Turbine fuel and Diesel use within the Australian Army; requiring strict adherence to safety regulations and quality standards to ensure the highest level of service delivery. A strong ability to analyse problems and consider the second and third order effects was critical in my approach to planning fuel operations, particularly rotary wing and amphibious. I led numerous planning teams and managed projects, as well as liaising with Defence’s industry partners such as Caltex, BP and BP Air; such examples include Operation Qld Flood Assist 2019 (Lead Fuel Planner supporting rotary wing operations) and Operation Bushfire Assist (VIC) 2019/20 (Logistics Advisor to the Victorian State’s Disaster Control Centre). Show less Officers' Petroleum Course - Petroleum Chemistry and TechnologyThe Officers' Petroleum Course (OPC) is a 31 week course conducted by the Ministry of Defence and Crainfield University to educate British Army, Royal Air Force, New Zealand Army and Australian Army Offficers in order for them to command strategic fuel operations both at home and abroad. The first phase of the course is taught by Cranfield University staff at the Defence Academy located in Shrivenham.
