      My postdoctoral fellowship focused on clinical and brain imaging research on treatment outcomes in chronically suicidal individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and treatment-resistant depression. My CIHR-funded fellowship research investigated the effectiveness of Magnetic Seizure Therapy plus Dialectical Behaviour Therapy in this population, with appointments at the Borderline Personality Disorder Clinic and the Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and in the Clinical Neurosciences Laboratory at the University of Toronto Scarborough.       My program of research is housed in the Gunderson Institute for Personality Disorders at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School. I am interested in the application of brain imaging and neurocognitive tools to explore prospective biomarkers of treatment response and suicide risk in individuals who at higher risk of suicide, with a focus on borderline personality disorder and trauma. The ultimate aim of my research program is to use neuroscience to create more effective and personalized treatments for people with suicidal thoughts and behaviors, including those with complex and treatment-resistant presentations. Currently, I am involved in clinical trial research that investigates the efficacy of novel conjoint biological plus psychotherapeutic interventions including MDMA-assisted psychotherapy and non-invasive brain stimulation.
