  English Language Teacher

  After travelling to Taiwan in August I worked at a Cram school teaching multiple classes of different ages per day, alongside tutoring adults in the evening. The students were aged four to sixteen and class sizes ranged from 12-15 students. Frisco followed a curriculum based on the chosen textbooks and I learnt to plan and organise lessons efficiently based on this. I found this job through ‘workaway’ and worked as a volunteer with accommodation and food provided.

  Following my decision to defer a year between my second and third year of university I travelled abroad to work as a foreign language teacher. My responsibilities involved planning and preparing lesson content, delivering and facilitating lessons and ensuring that the children were engaged and focused throughout the day. The children were aged between two and four years old meaning the lessons were largely play based and there was a strong focus on Total Physical Response.

  Long-term volunteer involved in the daily operational tasks of the organisation such as sorting, organising and preparing donations. Experience in mass distributions of clothing, hygiene and other NFIs to the residents of Vathy camp and of supplying to other actors and NGOs on the island. Worked as Volunteer Officer interviewing and recruiting new volunteers; updating policies and codes of conducts; facilitating team meetings and taking care of volunteer welfare. Writing and creating social media content weekly to increase fundraising support and raise awareness. Communicating with other NGOs and coordinators and maintaining team morale and motivation.
