    • Intouch Telecommunication, Inc.

      Sept 1997 - Jun 1998
      Technical Director

Brought in to address various technical issues with the company infrastructure. Company is an 'alternate carrier' and major provider of calling cards and other value added services. Responsible for all technical matters relating to provision of voice traffic and value added services including management, design and implementation of Pre Payment Card services. Systems based on Switches and routing of calls worldwide using E1/T1/PRI cards.Major achievements were personally coding a LCR calculator based on the latest log data in order to optimise the profitability of the infrastructure on a more regular basis. (This literally took over a day to run due to the speed of PCs in those days and the amount of time required to import the log files!)This was combined with (more) automated reporting ensuring the Finance Director had greater visibility of the amount of 'prepaid' cards that had not already been spent at any particular time. • Bell + Howell MMT

      Jul 1998 - Aug 2000
      European Project Manager

Primarily taking mailing projects from preorder through to successful implementation. Also included stabilising of 'problem' installations. Successes include:• Project managed initial installations of £22 million contract of Olympus Mail Sortation Systems for Bell and Howell Sorter Division in Europe. System involved analysis and integration of image and voice recognition across TCP/IP network within a billing, mailing and sorting environment. Responsible for significant increases in reliability and functionality and for significant reduction in mis-sorts. Systems sort millions of items per day, and now competes with Royal Mail. • Responsible for programming a number of solutions to identify causes of problems 'next day', resulting in substantial cost savings. Made significant reductions in installation costs for each system ensuring that these were well within budget.• Successfully 'stabilised' and completed £10 million customer mailing/billing integrated solution for EDS, by improving maintenance responses to achieve 98%+ scheduled uptime of equipment in 7x24 environment. • Addressed the company concerns over the Y2K bug. (A bit of a non event for this area of the company).• Went on to manage and was responsible for some very high profile projects related to Pensions Mis-selling requiring ridiculously tight schedules imposed by the regulator.• Saw the potential for the OCR technology that we were using for checking on road tax and car insurance and this was discussed with the Berkshire Police (who considered the concept to be too intrusive and Orwellian - How the world has changed!)• Left just prior to the company being purchased by Pitney Bowes.
