      Activities and Societies: I have two jobs during the academic year: the event coordinator with Colorado Springs Food Rescue, and as a Barista at Sacred Grounds. I am also involved in a variety of different organizations: President's Council, Senior Class Committee, President of Back Row (all male A Capella group), Social Chair and Leader of Outdoor Recreation Committee President’s Council: I served on this council that acts as a bridge between the administration and student body. We had meaningful face time with Administration leaders and input in decisions such as the master plan, issues of race on campus, and direction of the college.Social Chair and Trip Leader for the Outdoor Recreation Committee: I organized 5-8 yearly events promoting outdoor education and community building. Served as the volunteer and special events coordinator and was appointed board member in 2015.- Raised over $40,000 per year through special events and big fundraisers.- Worked with and trained over 50 volunteers to ensure rescue shifts were completed.- Organized 8-12 big events per year to educate the public, build community relations, and fundraise.- Helped drive strategic decisions as a board member to grow the nonprofit into an organization with 10 full time staff delivering 400,000 pounds of food to communities in need each year.       In the summer of 2016 I conducted independent research on the northward migration of Yellow Cedar in Alaska for publication. I became proficient in Lab techniques and skills and soil collection and species identification methods I was the recipient of Yale Institute for Biological Studies Masters Research Grant for my research.For the summer of 2015 I was awarded an independent research grant to further understanding in management practices of our natural resources. I conducted a comparative analysis of land management between the Southern Cone and the United States, extensively researching a variety of national parks throughout the region. I ultimately presented my findings in front of Board of Trustees and 300 audience members. Show less

      Recruited and trained 150 volunteers per term at UC Berkeley (UCB) and UC Santa Cruz to work on environmental, voter engagement, and public health campaigns.Organizing victories include: - First ever public university commitment to 100% Clean Energy by 250 at UCB.- Made UCB a “Bee Friendly” certified campus through major campus policy changes.- Passed the first-ever university campus ban on all single use plastics by 2030.- Registered over 3,500 students to vote and contacted over 100,000 voters to get out the vote.- Banned bee-killing pesticides in the city and on the campus of Santa Cruz.Raised $90,000 annually through member sign ups, the largest fundraising drive in PIRG history.Developed and taught weekly classes to 50 college interns/term to teach organizing skills.       Directed the Bay Area Campaign Office, overseeing an average of 30 full-time canvassers and 4 assistant directors to pass plastic reduction bills. Educated and mobilized over 100,000 Californians to take action.- Exceeded the 37 year fundraising record of $350,000 by 35% and exceeded all campaign goals, including total individuals educated and petitions signed for the campaigns.- Hired, on-boarded, and trained over 120 individual staff over the course of the summer season. - Developed a recruitment plan for the office, conducted interviews, and oversaw the training program.- After the campaign concluded, 6 of the 15 field managers went on to assume bigger leadership roles within our organization, which was much higher than any of the other offices.       CCS is a nonprofit startup that partners with cities to engage their residents on climate action and resiliency. Joined as the first employee, working alongside the founder to build strategy, scale impact, and grow our team from the ground up.- Grew our customer portfolio to 50 cities and counties, raising $280,000 annually. Led demos, ran the onboarding, and provided ongoing support for city/county staff and other nonprofit leaders.- Hired, trained, and managed three full time organizers after sufficiently growing the scope of operations.- Created and scaled community organizing programs across 12 states, including a community leader organizing model, neighborhood climate teams, and classroom challenges. - Developed program toolkits, training materials, climate action content, marketing collateral, and campaign plans for cities and nonprofit partners.- Secured $545,000 in grant funding. Researched opportunities and met with funders, wrote 10+ applications, oversaw project deliverables, and submitted progress reports and evaluations.- Built out new engagement services that brought in over $100,000 in the first year of the service. - Organized hundreds of community leaders, including faith, youth, cultural, service, education, and business leaders to launch community-led climate action challenges.- Oversaw 90 paid fellows through College Corps.       Manages projects intended to dramatically reduce plastic pollution, including efforts to reduce microfiber emissions, quantify and eliminate plastics used in agriculture, and ensure single-use plastic legislation (Senate Bill 54) is thoughtfully implemented. Engages California communities, businesses, academics, foundations, and resource managers across the state, and develops and advances innovative and equitable approaches to ensure lasting reductions in plastic production and pollution.
