Their Maine Policy Scholars program selects one student from each University of Maine system campus to conduct research on a Policy topic of their choosing. As the policy scholar for the Orono campus, I conducted research on food insecurity on college campuses, looking at root causes, impacts on personal well being and education performance measurements, and provide policy solutions to combat the issue.   University of Maine Student Government Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides students with opportunities and financial assistance for organizations to host events, attend conferences and competitions, and enrich their education. Student Entertainment is a division of UMSG Inc. with an annual budget of over $200,000 Student Entertainment strives to:- Host events such as speakers, comedians, and other unique talent for the enjoyment of students. Performances have included Dave Chapelle, Alex Moffat, and senior writers from the Onion.- Program one major concert for the academic year. The 2019 lineup featured Skizzy Mars, Chelsea Cutler and Snakehips.- Partner with UMaine athletics and administration to program at sporting events such as free t-shirts and on-campus carnival events.- Advise campus organizations about event management and logistics. Show less UMSG, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that uses student activity fees to help fund clubs and organizations and give back to the undergraduate student body. As the Fair Elections Practices Chair, I planned and organized the executive election for president, vice president, and senators. During the 2018 executive elections I developed a new online voting platform that made voting accessible to students via email. The new voting platform led to an increase in voter turnout of over 200% in addition to robust marketing and campaigning by candidates. Show less
