    • ODNR - Division of Parks and Recreation - Cleveland Lakefront State Park

      Jan 1997 - May 2013
      Naturalist

As Park Naturalist with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, I had many responsibilities regarding nature/outdoor educational/recreational programs and special events as well as administrative tasks. I created new programs and events, marketed and promoted them as well as conducted them. I also managed my own schedule and program bookings with schools, preschools, scout, community and youth groups. I also oversaw the park’s ‘Friends’ group and managed the volunteer program (for ‘Green Teens’ as well as adults and groups) – often coordinating and overseeing park improvement and conservation/stewardship projects.I had the opportunity to create a new nature center, The Exploration Station. This facility took several years to develop by choosing the theme, designing – and in some cases fabricating - exhibits, displays and activity stations, seeking funding, forming partnerships with area agencies and organizations, marketing, and maintaining live animal habitats. Jul 2013 - now

MASS Diving is an independent, small business that has been serving divers in New England for over 25 years in the areas of retail sales, equipment service, training and continuing education, and travel. Daily responsibilities include customer service management, shipping and receiving, stock management, organizing, loading and unloading, money handling, and future development. My role in sales is to assist customers by being knowledgeable about, and able to effectively convey, the features and function of specialized equipment, variability between manufacturers, education course offerings, requirements, and schedules, and travel destinations. I also coordinate the commuter parking program in regards to communications, billing and payment processing, and placement. My role in marketing is outreach to promote the various aspects of the business to an existing customer base as well as to attract new audiences utilizing a variety of tools and avenues. As part of this process, I am working in collaboration to create a new dive program for summer 2014, which will include the creation of a new PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) Specialty.Diving is a social activity. As such, I have been working in collaboration to create an active dive community through the planning and implementation of networking opportunities where divers can meet other divers. A part of this includes creating and maintaining an area of the business where divers can share their diving accomplishments, including welcoming new divers to the community. Show less
