      Responsible for delivery of customer orders, dispatch of delivery routes to other drivers and picking stock.Whilst delivering it is essential to maintain Waitrose and Partners' reputation for customer service by going over and above their expectations of our delivery service and providing a personable experience. I help customers with substitutions and other order queries as well as helping vulnerable customers by building up their trust and supporting their independence. The dispatch of routes requires the efficient allocation of both vehicles and drivers to ensure timely deliveries and adherence to rest policies. Vans must be ready for use by the driver and drivers must have enough time to load and unload between routes to ensure we can deliver exceptional service. Vans must also be checked regularly to ensure safety standards are met and so repairs can be carried out.Courteous picking is essential to ensure our online customers receive the "We shop like you shop" service. We pick the best produce in line with customer specifications and ensure long date codes so customers receive the best shop possible. This role:- Improved my initiative through solving unique problems whilst delivering to customers.- Developed my organisational skills through the management of routes and allocation of drivers and vehicles.- Strengthened my communication skills through interactions with customers and other team members when preparing customer orders. Organised daily rotas so that the required amount of partners are available throughout the day whilst also accounting for their break requirements. Responsible for cashing up tills at the start and end of each day, this required a strict process to be followed and due diligence paperwork to be filed. Responded to customer queries and as their final interaction of their shop, ensured they have enjoyed their in-store experience and offer additional services if required, such as help to their car, calling taxis and Waitrose online services.       Sales and Trading Intern

      Self-organised unpaid internship shadowing research, sales, trading and equity capital markets professionals to develop an understanding of the mechanics of a full-service investment bank and the daily role of each department. I was encouraged to learn how economic theory can be applied to real world events and to the financial markets.Whilst working with the sales teams, I followed Florida financial stocks through a busy hurricane season and witnessed first-hand the effect of economic theories on their relative prices. I also learned about the daily tasks of assimilating research and distributing investment ideas to institutional clients.Additionally, I observed the trading team and the importance of frequent correspondence with sales and research in order to manage risk when executing orders.Spending time with a European Investment Banks Analyst offered a great insight into how stocks are analysed for investment purposes and again offered an application of my studies in both Maths and Economics to the real world. It was interesting to learn about how banks pitch on deals and manage the process of raising capital and IPOs with the Capital Market team.This role:- Gave me a greater understanding of basic concepts of financial markets as well as the operation of an investment bank.- Allowed me to apply my studies in both Economics and Maths to the real world.- Developed my analytical skills through the analysis of financial stocks.       I spent the day with Willis Towers Watson where we had workshops on presentation and communication skills as well as gaining an insight into their work and operations.We were tasked with creating an elevator pitch regarding a randomly assigned topic, we then built on this pitch and developed a 5 minute presentation for the same topic. Following this we were asked to feedback to one another in a way which was constructive allowing us to improve our communication skills. The day also included an insight into the work that Willis Towers Watson do. This included an introduction to multiple professions including actuaries and insurance brokers. It was also interesting to hear about careers opportunities at the firm and the interesting work that was regularly undertaken. This role:- Greatly improved my presentation skills through an improvised pitch as well as a longer rehearsed presentation.- Strengthened both my written and spoken communication skills through feeding back to peers on their presentations.- Improved my knowledge of the insurance industry and career opportunities within the industry.
