  Employee Safety Specialist Intern

  Responsibilities of my role as Employee Safety Specialist Intern include:- Regulatory Compliance- Monthly Medical Group and Main Campus rounding with accreditation, infection control, and environmental services representatives to ensure workplace safety - Hazard Assessment- Writing new safety tip sheets for hazardous materials, most often cleaning chemicals, based on mSDS and demos from active user sites- Education and Development- Safety instruction, such as nurse orientation and new hire orientation - Incident Reporting- Use of RL, PeopleSoft, and Epic to manage and report injuries in the workplace, as well as injury investigation/follow up emails- Continuous Improvement- Analyzing trends and making change toward improvement, specifically with needlestick and patient handling incidents- Workplace Violence Prevention- Member of Henry Ford's WPVP Committee, responsible for introducing and enforcing new safety measures to combat physical and verbal abuse in the patient care setting-Office Ergonomics- Responsible for conducting office ergonomics assessments, as well as office ergonomics training for the system Show less
