    • Drum Ride Recordings

      Jan 2006 - Jan 2010
      Business Owner

In 2006 I launched my own record label – “Drum Ride Recordings” (DRR) with a simple ethos “write some half-decent music and sell it to people”.Currently on hiatus, DRR was a great project that allowed me to experience control over all aspects of the label, including: A&R, production, distribution, branding and marketing. My role involved liaising with artists, mastering engineers, graphic designers, record pressing plants, retailers, distributors, publishers and press.DRR produced both vinyl and digital releases from artists including Luke Bowditch, Sean Quinn, Danny Bonnici, Steve Ward, PQM and Tim Richards. The label received international radio and club play including from such luminaries as Laurent Garnier, Hernan Cattaneo, Anthony Pappa and Chris Fortier. Luke Bowditch’s “Robusto” received 5/5 ‘dancing men’ from Mixmag when reviewed by Kris Needs. عرض أقل

My interest in Djing was sparked when a cousin gave me Public Enemy’s “Yo, Bum Rush the Show” and Eric B & Rakim’s “ Follow The Leader” (I was in Grade 2). I love finding new music and sharing it. I also love the technical aspects of DJing, and bringing a musician’s take on the craft to the dancefloor. It’s been many years now, and I’ve played a broad range of music. In recent years my focus has been on electronic house music – synthetic sounds that make your belly warm.Club residencies have included:Tramp, Dream Sessions, Sircuit, Snap. Crackle., Onesixone, The Market, Room 680, Q-Bar, Mink, Seven, Circus, Redhead, Saratoga, Blue Diamond.Events include:Kiss My Grass, Two Tribes, Ministry Of Sound, Respect Is Burning, Welcome, Good Times, Phreakin’, Glisten, Slinky, Purr. عرض أقل My musicianship started with trumpet lessons at school; soon branching into weekly commitments with four groups playing trumpet and flugel horn in jazz and classical environments. AMEB – Grade 5 (trumpet). Studied ‘Music Craft’ as a VCE subject, which included theory, composition, orchestration and performance.Music education as an adult has included studying functional/jazz harmony under Melbourne pianist Scott Griffiths and several short courses on afro-cuban percussion with Javier Fredez.Things kicked off for me as an electronic producer with the purchase of my first sampler (an AKAI S-2000) in 1997. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a wide range of audio hardware and software, as well as some great people. My electronic work has been released on labels including Sonrisa, #Hausity, Sondos, Abducted, Vicious, Vinyl Pusher and my own Drum Ride Recordings. I have had remix releases for artists such as Paul Johnson, PQM, Inaya Day, Groovehunter and Jan Driver. I have also written for a variety of media applications such as music used on YouTube, websites and for TV (Foxtel). عرض أقل Helping venues with their music needs:- Creating music policy for weekly nights and events.- Booking acts (DJs and live performers)- Managing rosters and payroll- Negotiating contracts for touring artists- Coordination of artists visas with Immigration Department- Collation of music to be played during tradeProjects:Tramp Saturdays (2006 - 2018)Burn (2014)Dream Sessions (2013)Touché Hombre (2012-2013)Snap. • 12am

      Jan 2011 - Jan 2016
Music Industry Marketer (Electronic production specialist)

12am is a marketing and social media company servicing the professional and performance audio market, specialising in boosting brand and product profiles via education. We take on quality, under-exposed products and simplify their strengths to users who could benefit most. Staffed by musicians with long histories in the DJ/electronic music market, we speak the language of end-users and retailers, required to maximise the exposure (and sales) of quality product. We do this by speaking directly with the audience, via social media and video (both on client pages and on founder Andre Cato’s YouTube channel - 4 million hits and counting), or face-to-face with retail staff. I’ve worked on a number of campaigns for 12am, both in-house and with clients including Store DJ and National Audio Systems. My work has focussed on digital content development (audio, video and text) and management, drawing on my marketing background, industry experience and technical skills. عرض أقل
