  Supported the Utah Army National Guard at Camp Williams which involved the development of a training area website, an official Camp Williams comprehensive map, field mapping of facility assets and features using Trimble GeoXT GPS units with TerraSync, general analysis, and network analysis of Camp Williams roads to determine best routes for accessing different parts of the training facility. An example general analysis task performed was the surface danger from military weapons analysis. As one specific example a live fire convoy course was in the initial phase of planning. A segment of road within a shallow canyon within Camp Williams had been designated for the course. It was desired to know how much the vertical angle of fire from weaponry had to be constrained in order to make sure the munitions stayed within the shallow canyon. As this analysis required many steps and an iterative process of running the analysis and then going back and fine tuning the analysis process, model builder was used. It was found that the weapons could not be raised above 1° from level or munitions would escape the course and endanger others on and off the facility. Because of this analysis live fire munitions will not be used in any future course development within this area. Show less
