      Research Assistant

The research project I am currently contributing to focuses on understanding the relationship between neuropeptide receptors and cell fate in the male C. elegans. The target neuropeptide receptors are also GFP reporters. These reporter lines of C. elegans will be crossed with other gene knockout lines that target terminal selector transcription factor genes. The aim is to observe which neuropeptide GFP reporters will be impacted by knocking out each terminal selector transcription factor. Then it will be possible to determine which genes compose the gene battery of each cell type determined by the terminal selector transcription factor. Finally, It is the aim to compare this data from the male C. elegans to that of the hermaphrodite C. elegans in order to further understand sexually dimorphic characteristics of C. elegans.
