Between February 2013 and December 2015, the Upstate Territory registered more than 600 school events. •Served as a liaison between community organizations and maintained working partnerships. The Upstate Territory recruited 18 new Community Friends between February 2013 and December 2015 and recognized nine as “Outstanding Community Friends”.•Provided technical assistance to schools and communities in the form of facilitating school Walkability Audits, safety assessments, drafting school Travel Plans and providing guidance on next steps for program implementation and funding.•Acted as an ambassador for the Safe Routes to School program by giving public presentations.
