  I worked for several months as an annotator and encoder for the UVA English professor John O'Brien. I took the XML files of several 18th and 19th century texts and encoded them to fit into a custom-built website, while simultaneously annotating them for use by undergraduate students.

  I worked with Professor O'Brien on a new project, where, with the assistance of PhD students from Nebraska, we helped develop and test a tool that segments and reads images of old newspapers and magazines to find instances of poetry, advertisements, and other similar data. I spend my time equally on database management and testing the software.
