The main works consists of a 25km long, 7.2m dia. tunnel and once completed will be the UK's longest and deepest tunnel.       As part of the major upgrade to Abu Dhabi’s wastewater network system, Stuart provided management and leadership to the Quality Consultant (CQC) team for construction of the world’s largest wastewater pumping station (PS-01) and associated Civils and Buildings. As an independent consultant, the CQC was required to perform quality control and assurance, and advise on technical issues between the designers, consultants and contractors. The team performed periodic audits and key inspections within the Contractor’s supply chain and construction process. His role also involved the commercial management and management of staff requirements within the allocated budgets. preparation of management reports covering quality, progress, and safety and representing the CQC at project reviews and meetings with the client and other key stakeholders. His role on behalf of the client was to provide programme management expertise for the master-planning, designs and studies of industrial cities throughout the Kingdom. This included the preparation of scope statements, cost estimates and planning schedules for inclusion in procurement packages for the civil and building Infrastructure of individual cities. His role also involved the preparation and evaluation of tenders for design and construction contracts for the appointment of consultants and contractors. He also worked in conjunction with the business development teams to assist them in the lease and sale of residential communities, commercial offices and retail units. The programme is being developed in partnership with government ministries and private sector investors, and is significant in terms of the GCC economy and the Saudi 2020 National Transformation Programme. Show less Stuart managed two major projects during my first assignment to Qatar. Firstly, as technical advisor for the design and construction contracts of the high-profile Doha Expressways Programme, and secondly providing construction oversight for the Inner Doha Resewerage Implementation Strategy (IDRIS). His remit on Expressways covered the procurement of highways, structures and public realm projects, and on IDRIS he was required to manage the delivery and handover of a series of construction contracts, involving the management of site supervision teams, monitoring quality, safety and progress, and validating expenditure. He developed a collaborative working relationship with the Resident Engineers and Contractors staff ensuring each contract was delivered to the clients’ satisfaction. These programmes are being delivered for the Public Works Authority - Ashghal, and are considered critical in terms of preparations for staging the FIFA World Cup in 2022 and realising the Qatari 2030 National Vision. This required the chairing of daily coordination meetings and updating of planning trackers to ensure the works were sequenced correctly and verified by the QA/QC teams prior to the architectural finishes. His role also interfaced with Authorities such as Ashghal, Karahmaa and the PEO, requiring continuous dialogue to maintain relationships, ensuring satisfactory coordination with Qatar’s other major infrastructure projects. NEOM the LINE, is a cognitive smart city in the northwest mountain and desert regions of KSA near to the Red Sea. Phase 1 is due for completion in 2030, consisting of a 2.5km section and the hidden marina tourist destination. City neighbourhoods will accommodate 250,000 people, with commercial units, medical and education facilities and iconic assets such as the sports and events stadium in support of the Saudi 2034 FIFA world cup.My role on behalf of NEOM is to lead a multi-disciplinary team managing the design integration between the Urban Designers, Architects, Infrastructure Engineers, and Project Delivery Teams. The design integration team serves to resolve design issues, ensure compatibility among the project parties, and maintain compliance. This is a key aspect of the RIBA design stages and facilitates delivery of project deliverables and evidence to satisfy NEOM assurance requirements. Show less
