  ● I was responsible for general barn and property upkeep. Such as feeding horses and cleaning their stalls morning and night, disinfecting water troughs, brushes, feed buckets, etc., dragging their turnout fields, and fixing fences. ● I ran general errands for the barn such as placing and picking up monthly feed and supply orders, and getting gas for our barn equipment. I also had to pick up and run errands for the owner of the barn, as well as pick her up whenever she wanted to ride or visit. Since I was a live-in hand, I also was responsible for doing all of the barn laundry. (Wash rags, towels, horse blankets, etc.)● I was responsible for feeding, grooming, health upkeep, and general care of 8 horses at least 5 days a week and for entire weeks at a time doing everything alone while the rider was showing some of the horses at events. (Usually the months of January to the beginning of April.) These responsibilities included making sure none of them got sick and we’re in good health, getting them all the correct amount of feed and supplements 3 times a day, keeping them all clean and well groomed, and turning them out to pasture daily. ● Occasionally, I would also assist the show rider in warming up the horses before she jumped and place jumps in the practice field for her. ● During show season, I cleaned & then loaded the trailer with all of the tack and show supplies they’d need. As well as unloading the horses, tack, and supplies when they returned home to the barn. Show less
