  Time served fitter responsible for carrying out planned maintenance, downtime maintenance and routine checks. Also the re-commissioning of plant following planned downtime / maintenance periods. During this time I also deputised for my Team Leader / Inspector for holiday cover and periods of sickness. Mechanical apprentice. 18 months spent in TTE training college learning basic mechanical skills as well as basic electrical installation, instrumentation, fabrication, machining etc. Followed by 30 months of on job training around the entire steel works in 6-8 month periods.

  Maintenance Technician

  As a mechanically biased maintenance technician I worked in Nissan's bodyshop where I was responsible for a section of the automotive production line. This is where I initially gained ladder logic PLC experience and became a lot more hands on with electrical issues than I had previously. Which all helped me as my career progressed to become a much rounded engineer rather than being purely mechanically focused.

  Currently I am an engineering supervisor (mechanically biased) at the BOS steel making plant on Teesside. A Top tier COMAH site where I supervise a team of fitters, electricians, platters, welders and instrument technicians. My role is to prioritise workloads, to maintain operational availability and maximise profitability whilst adhering to safe working procedures and DPTW's. As a team our primary role is reactive maintenance which has helped me develop an excellent fault finding abilities. Working with pressurised systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics and use of PLC logic. I'm also experienced in commissioning plant equipment following major shutdowns and upgrades. Show less
