I started on the Mathematics with Physics course, but switched over to the Maths tripos from my second year onwards (though with a bias towards applied topics). For Part III (the Certificate of Advanced Study in Mathematics, which subsequently became an MMath), my essay was on 'Spin Networks: from Penrose to the Barrett-Crane Model'.

      Modelling and signal recovery for the Epoch of Reionization experiment on the LOFAR telescope. This is a 'software telescope' that correlates the output of very many radio antennas, yielding a large, complex dataset.

      Data analysis for the Dark Ages Radio Explorer. Bayesian model selection to separate the cosmological signal from the early Universe from local contamination and instrumental effects. Part of a multidisciplinary mission team and research community.

      I'm interested in data analysis and statistical inference using datasets covering the cosmic dawn and the epoch of reionization. In particular I'm involved with the Epoch of Reionization project of the LOFAR telescope, and the proposed Dark Ages Radio Explorer satellite, which would study the early Universe from a low lunar orbit.
