During my work experience at Lloyds Pharmacy, my roles included dispensing medication. Since the branch that I was working out had a contract with the local prison, I was given an insight into the various techniques which are used to dispense the drugs that are delivered to the prison. In addition, I was handing out dispensed medication to patients who came into the store to collect their medicine. Furthermore, I prepared Multi-compartment Compliance Aids for patients who had difficulties adhering to their medication. Show less

      Placement Student

During my hospital placement, I gained knowledge in orthopaedics at the Greville ward. At this ward, I was analysing drug charts with a pharmacist and by using my clinical knowledge, I was able determine which medication would increase the risk of a fall. Also, I was able to visit the anticoagulation service, which enabled me to observe the interactions between a specialist pharmacist and patients, with regards to adjusting their dose of warfarin according to their INR. Abrupt changes to their INR were investigated by asking the patient questions about any recent changes to their diet or any medication that they had recently started to take. Show less
