      May 2015 - Aug 2017
      Head Swim Coach

I built this team through the last 3 seasons by coaching in a way that inspired confidence in beginning swimmers. In this team's first season, there were 19 novice swimmers. By the third season, there were 32 swimmers on the team with many returning swimmers. I also built a parent committee that hosted fundraisers and team social events, culminating in us successfully hosting our first home swim meet where we were told by many that it was the best run swim meet they had attended.

    • Colorado State University

      Jan 2017 - May 2017
      Learning Coordinator

I worked one-on-one with a caseload of 6-8 student-athletes, focusing on improving study skills, time management, writing skills, and understanding of assignments. Since I realized the majority of their student-athlete life was highly structured, I often encouraged them to make their own decisions concerning class projects and homework according to their interests. I saw that this caused them to see they do have a voice and it empowered them to begin to see their capabilities, passions, and strengths outside of the athlete world. Show less

      Aug 2017 - Jun 2020

As a career counselor, it is my joy to guide clients through a variety of experiential activities, helping them gain self-awareness, clarity, and confidence. My work with clients varied greatly. Many were in the stage of building the foundational blocks of self-reflection, working through irrational thought patterns, or addressing mental health issues before they could even consider what they wanted to major in, or how to apply for a job. Others were ready to start applying or learn networking or job searching tools. Wherever they were, I applied a wide variety of theory based techniques, with a focus on action oriented, and solution focused methods. Show less While overseeing the day-to-day needs of this advising office, I had the opportunity to see how advisors interact with students and observe what needs brought students in to see their advisors. This office advises the population of undeclared students and I was able to bring in elements of career development into my conversations with advisors as they explored how to have deeper, even more impactful conversations in their advising appointments. I encouraged the use of My Spark Path Cards, as well as the Career Construction Interview and look forward to continuing these training conversations through collaboration with the CU Denver Career Center. Show less At the career center, I join students in their journey, exploring their strengths, interests, passions, and values with the view of discovering major and career options. I use activities and assessments such as values and skills card sorts, True Colors, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, and many conversations to facilitate their exploration. I also assist students in their resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profile and any job search related questions they may have. I also took the opportunity to create a workshop focusing on undeclared students. Through my appointments with them, I noticed they all shared the same fears, questions, and desires. Based on that, I created a workshop that gives them the permission to be okay with where they are, as well as the opportunity to begin exploring the activities they love doing that leaves them feeling strong. I work with an amazing team and together, we develop events and workshops, with the needs of our students constantly in mind. We endeavor to create an atmosphere with one another that is open, welcoming and innovative and I believe this inviting environment is visible to students when they walk through our doors. Show less

      Adolescent Counselor

There is increasing pressure on adolescents to "get it right", whether that be related to their post-high school plans, their social life, their familial relationships, or their academic pursuits (or all the above!). This immense pressure causes stress, anxiety, depression and if not addressed, can be debilitating to their day-to-day living. In my work with adolescents, this is my number one goal - release them from their stress. As they learn the skills to deal with stress, and begin to recognize irrational self-beliefs and irrational concepts from those around them, they are then able to take the steps forward to address the bigger questions.
