    • Private Practice

      Sept 1995 - now
      Learning Specialist and Educational Consultant

As a learning disabilities specialist, I provide remediation in reading, writing, spelling, handwriting, language-based academic issues, and organizational and study skills. I coordinate my remediation plan with my student's school personnel. Additionally, I offer reading and writing based assessments on a consultative basis. Because dyslexia is the most prevalent of the various learning disabilities, the remediation and assessment of dyslexia has become my area of expertise. Many of my teaching principles are based on the work of Orton and Gillingham. Show less

In the early 1990s, a young student of mine named Margaret Babyak wished there was a book that profiled the inspirational success stories of people with LD that I often shared with my students. Her wish became the impetus for the creation of two books profiling such stories. See Publication section for further information. At this time, I am working on multiple projects related to the promotion of enhancing literacy outcomes in the US.
