The master thesis focused on applying results from group theory and representation theory to add to CNNs the property of rotational equivariance. The models were applied for the task of blood vessel segmentation in 3D volumes produced from Cardiac Computed Tomography Angiography. A wide range of architectures were investigated, varying the network architecture itself (Vanilla CNNs, U-Net, MobileNet), the rotational groups (from SO(3) to its finite subgroups), the representations used (bandlimited regular representations vs steerable irreps) and the types of non-linearities.
