Branded as the Memoir Midwife, quite simply I you find, write, and share your personal stories. My mission is to show you how to break down the barriers that prevent you from meeting your story head on and getting it down on paper. Guided by my conviction that everyone has a valuable story to tell, I believe that it’s personal stories and the sharing experiences that will change the world. Personal stories unite us. They breed compassion in a world that desperately needs to understand the commonality of being human. My goal as the Memoir Midwife is to help you give birth to your story (not write it for you). Because after you get over the pain of getting your story out, we’ll all be better people for listening to what you have to say. Most of the stories I mentor end up as books. And some of those books are destined to be movies--and if so I can help there, as well.I started my own media production company under which to produce independent writing and film/video projects. Stacy’s TED talk reveals the story of a Federal prisoner’s quest to be heard. Over the course of two years, the stories trapped behind bars begin to piece together as Stacy mentors inmate David Charlton Taylor to bring to life his autobiographical novel JACUMBA CONNECTION. Her talk not only outlines the creative process of bringing an idea born in prison from paper to book to big screen, but also offers an insider’s look at illegal immigration, as well as behind the scenes interaction with the U.S. penitentiary system. (Event date: April 16, 2016; talk length: 16 minutes))For more introspection on life as a Federal prisoner, please visit David C. Taylor’s blog Postcards From Prison. Show less
